Andrea Vigani

Italian composer of mostly chamber, vocal and electroacoustic works that have been performed across Europe and United States, he is also a violinist.

Mr. Vigani graduated in Violin, Composition and Electroacoustic Music from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, then he specialized in string quartet, chamber music and composition, guided by Piero Farulli, Milan Skampa and Franco Donatoni at the Fiesole School of Music and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena,
he also specialized in Electroacustic music at Ircam-Paris.

His music was played by important Orchestras, soloists and conductors as Peter Eotvos, Jonathan Nott, Michael Muller, Claire Booth, Mario Brunello, Dutch Radio Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Patti Monson, Ensemble Aventure, Cristina Zavalloni, Ensemble Aleph, Arena di Verona Orchestra, Barbara Luneburg, Ensemble TM+, I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, etc.

He has received numerous awards among other : The Edvard Grieg Competition for Young Composers - Oslo,  Composer’s arena - Amsterdam, Città di Udine,  “Camillo Togni” Brescia, Comitè de lecture Ircam-Ensemble Intercontemporain,
Mauricio Kagel Prize, ecpnm competition for Live Electronics projects.

Commissions from  IRCAM-Centre G.Pompidou, Arena di Verona foundation, Ensemble Aleph, Milan Conservatory, Orchestra Milano Classica, International Festival Mozart, Laboratorio Novamusica, G.Cantelli Foundation, United Europe Chamber Orchestra, Reggia di Venaria Reale, etc.

He worked as composer and player with dancer as Lindsey Kemp “ Special guest:Lindsay Kemp”, Carolyn Carlson and Gavin Bryars  “Waltz thru time” played at teatro Malibran in Venice during Biennale di Venezia festival and at Theatre de la Ville-Parigi and Yuval Pick ”Strand Behind” (2006) created during a co-residency at CNSMD-Lyon, played in various french Theatres and at Agora Festival 2006 and 2007 - Paris.

He was invited from various internationals Festivals as Ars Musica ‘90, IX Biennale dei giovani artisti europei e del mediterraneo, Gaudeamus Music Week, Festival Agora, Fromm players at Harvard University, ISCM World Music Days, Gaida Festival, Festival Mozart Rovereto, Maison de la Danse-Lyon, Avantgarde Tirol, etc.
In addition, the BBC, Radio France, SWR (Germany), NPS (Holland), NRK (Norway), RAI 3 (Italy), and Swiss Television have broadcast them.

His works are published by Suvini Zerboni, Tau Kay, Agenda, Rugginenti, Nuova Stradivarius.

He teach Electronic composition at « A.Vivaldi » Conservatory in Alessandria.
